In 2000 Davide Tiranti received an MSc degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Torino (IT) with a thesis on genesis and evolution of Plio-Quaternary carbonate breccias (pseudocarniole) similar to Triassic evaporites (carniole) in the upper Susa Valley (Western Italian Alps).

After graduation Davide has collaborated about two years (2001-2002) with the Department of Soil Defense, University of Calabria (IT) as temporary researcher involved in landslides forecasting.

In 2003 he has become a Chartered Geologist for the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (IT).

Since 2004 Davide works in the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection of Piemonte (Torino, IT) as geologist developing early warning systems for natural hazards. Moreover, he occupies the position of flood defence officer.

Since 2006 Davide is a Guest Lecturer and Thesis Advisor at the Department of Earth Sciences (University of Torino, IT) for degree courses in Geological and Natural Sciences as well as at the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering, Polytechnic University of Torino (IT), where he lectures “modeling and forecasting of natural hazards” to the BSc and MSc students.

In 2008 he then obtained a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Torino (IT) with tutoring by the Cambridge Quaternary, Department of Geography, University of Cambridge (UK) for a research on triggering mechanisms and sedimentary processes of sediment gravity flows in Western Alps.

Since 2009 he is a Lecturer at the Doctoral School in Earth Sciences, University of Torino (IT).
Davide is also involved in international research projects dealing with: forecasting of natural hazards, climate change impacts, seismic hazard and water resources estimation.

Since 2012 he is part of the peer-reviewers community for ISI journals on geoscience topics.

In 2013 Davide has become Associate Editor of Frontiers in Earth Science and Frontiers in Marine Science.

In 2017 he is part of the Editorial Board of Landslides, journal of the International Consortium on Landslides.
